Your 2-year old nephew might be the cutest thing when heโs dressed up in a tiny tuxedo and carrying a flower basket, but we all know that children, especially toddlers, are a force to be reckoned with when they are bored out of their minds.
If youโre one of the few couples who will be welcoming tiny guests, itโs best that you have some entertainment in store for the kids. To help you plan out your entertainment for the little ones, we have a couple of interesting ideas that you can take into consideration:
1. Playroom

Itโs not common, but some wedding locations in Singapore do provide a separate kiddie playroom, and a few even come with supervisors. These places include Shangri-La Hotel Singapore, Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa, and Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium, and this simple detail will go a long way โ parents are free to take a break from parenting duties and have a good time, and you wonโt have to worry about unexpected tantrums and so on.
2. Petting zoo

Only possible for outdoor weddings, a โpetting zooโ might sound like a bit of a stretch but it is possible โ especially if your venue is along the lines of the Singapore Zoo, The Animal Resort, and Bukit Timah Saddle Club. You can be sure that this will be one of the most memorable weddings for not just the little ones, but even the adults.
3. Arts and crafts
Some say that simplicity is best, and incorporating arts and crafts into your wedding is a simple solution for fidgety kids. Choose to either dedicate an entire corner or include art and craft materials at every table so that they can occupy themselves during the wedding ceremony and/or banquet!
To ensure that you leave no kid behind, make sure to include a variety of activities โ colouring books, Play-Doh, and scrapbooking materials are a few examples.
4. Movie night

If youโre lucky enough to snag a hotel room at your wedding venue, why not make full use of it during the wedding ceremony and banquet by turning it into a mini cinema just for your little guests?
Just make sure to download some cartoons or fun yet educational animations so that the big screen will be able to fully capture their attention for the required duration. Better yet, throw in a PlayStation or Wii game console with a handful of controllers too!
5. DIY stations
Ideal for couples who are thinking of hiring a wedding caterer, your little guests will be delighted to create their own food โ be it assembling their own pizza or decorating a cupcake.
Simply make a note to the caterers to allow the DIY section to be as kid-friendly and interactive as possible! Think bags of icing ready for piping, and scoop-your-own pasta with a variety of sauce and toppings to choose from.
6. Bouncy castles and ball pits

Bouncy castles and ball pits have always been a crowd-favourite with children throughout the years, so renting one โ if your venue allows โ will definitely be able to keep everyone young at heart occupied!
Safety first
Incorporating any of these ideas into your wedding will definitely make a childโs eyes light up, but they are not without risk of injury. To ensure the safety of the children, never assume that the hotel venue or rental company will provide manpower to help keep an eye on them!
